About Rushworth General Store

A little history. A lot of heart.

Some places are more than just a shop.

They're somewhere to meet, discover something lovely and feel part of a community.

Nestled in the historic township of Rushworth, Victoria, Rushworth General Store brings together thoughtfully chosen homewares, clothing, gifts and everyday essentials, all within the walls of a beautiful old building with stories to tell.

It's a modern take on the traditional country general store, where quality, connection and a warm welcome never go out of style.

Meet Jasmin

A lifelong love of retail and country living

After more than 32 years working in retail, Jasmin had always dreamed of opening a store of her own.

Having grown up in nearby Nagambie, Jasmin and her husband Tim now live on a sheep farm with their son Will, daughter Grace and two Kelpies Tilly and Stella. Life on the land has given Jasmin a deep appreciation for the beauty of country living, but also an understanding of how isolating rural life can sometimes be.

She saw an opportunity to create something Rushworth was missing. A welcoming place where locals could connect, visitors could feel at home and beautiful, practical things could be found under one roof.

With a background spanning fashion, homewares, produce and art curation, Jasmin has brought her experience and natural eye for detail to every corner of the store.

A building full of stories

Preserving a little piece of Rushworth

Step inside Rushworth General Store and you'll discover that the building is every bit as special as the things on its shelves.

Dating back to the late 1800s or early 1900s, the original general store is believed to have been built by philanthropist Alexander Miller, who established several stores in the region.

Look up and you'll see beautiful old skylights that once provided natural light before electricity arrived. There's pressed tin, an original Bushell's sign, old timber beams and even signatures left behind by past workers and owners.

Beneath the store, an underground cellar tells another story. Produce once arrived by horse and cart and was rolled down a chute into the cool space below.

Today, these details remain part of the experience, connecting the store's past with its future.

More than a general store

Come in, stay a while

Whether you're a local popping in for a chat, a visitor exploring the historic streets of Rushworth or someone searching for the perfect gift, there's always something to discover.

For Jasmin, it's about more than what people take home. It's about how they feel while they're here.

A warm welcome. A friendly conversation. A little inspiration. And perhaps a reason to come back.

We hope you'll leave with a smile and a little piece of Rushworth to remember.
